The Regulation Amending the Regulation on the Implementation of the Turkish Citizenship Law has been published in the Official Gazette dated December 12, 2023. With this amendment, additional conditions have been introduced for acquiring Turkish citizenship through land purchase. Accordingly, it will now be required that there be a structure on the land for acquiring citizenship through the purchase of immovables.

With the amendment, the relevant article of the law has been modified as follows:

A foreigner who meets any of the following conditions can acquire Turkish citizenship by the decision of the President:
Having purchased an immovable property with land qualifications, on which a building exists, for a value of at least 400,000 American Dollars or the equivalent in foreign currency, provided that a restriction is placed in the land registry stating that it will not be sold for three years,...

The amendment has come into effect as of December 12, 2023.
